KAARDA CLASS AT COUNTRY WEEK

EACH YEAR country students from throughout WA head to Perth to participate in the Senior High Schools Country Week Championships.

Schools who participate in ‘A Section’ play in the Bill Walker Division. In 2009 the Bill Walker was contested by Newton Moore SHS, Albany SHS, Bunbury SHS, Australind SHS, Mandurah Senior College and Geraldton Senior College.

The Walker All Star Award acknowledges consistent high performance as determined by the Umpires during the Country Week carnival.

The winner of the 2009 Belt up Cup All star Player in the Walker division was our very own Kirk Ugle. He was also selected in the All Stars team.

15 SWFA boys participated in the Newton Moore SHS football team. The boys were all well behaved on and off the field all week up in Perth. The team included a lot of young players Herman Humphries Yr 9; as well three Yr 10’s all playing against boys a few years older than them and still managed to play some great footy.

During the week the team had a few set backs with family and friends, but to the boys’ credit they stuck at it all week to make the grand final but finished Runner-up to Mandurah Senior College.
