TOPPLING THE TOP END
The Tennant Creek High School’s Clontarf Academy ventured to the top end during December 2009 for the end of year major trip. Those who participated from the High School were primarily students in Years 10, 11 and 12.
The mode of transport was extremely comfortable in the new spacious Clontarf bus complete with DVD player, air con and tinted windows. As you could imagine, football games and action movies were regularly played whilst on the road.
In a breakthrough for Tennant Creek, it appears from these performances, a few of our lads may have written themselves in Northern Territory junior football squads. The next step of making the team is up to them.
Other activities for the week included; wave pool, visit to Parliament house, shopping at Casuarina Square, dinner at the Darwin Wharf and Tim’s Surf and Turf, Archery, golf driving range and mini golf with a swim at Mataranka hot springs on the way up.
Throughout the trip, the boys behaved extremely well with zero issues of concern. A testament to all who went, again well done boys, you represented the town of Tennant Creek, Tennant Creek High School and the Clontarf Foundation very well.
This year the Clontarf Academy is again in operation and full swing with games, trips and activities being planned to Katherine and Mt Isa in term 1 in addition to hosting home games against Centralian College 23rd February and Katherine High School 26th March. Inter-school trial games are scheduled throughout the terms on a fortnightly basis.
