THE BOMBERS VISIT TIWI
On Sunday the 26th of October the Tiwi Football Academy members were treated with a very special visit from players from the Essendon Bombers Football Club.
The Academy members were brought to school a day early in order for them to have the opportunity to chill out with their hero’s in person.

Footballers Courtney DEMPSEY, Leroy JETTA and Heath HOCKING all touched down at Pika for a kick of the footy with the students, before joining them for a swim in the local water hole.

The Clontarf Academy members relished the opportunity to speak with their hero’s in such a relaxed atmosphere, and they interacted and told stories to the Bombers players, keeping them entertained for the remainder of the afternoon.
Once the swim was completed, everyone headed to the school for some afternoon tea, before the Bombers players assisted their Tiwi counterparts in putting the finishing touches on the Pika oval by spreading some new grass seeds on the soil.

All the Tiwi students had various items of clothing singed before the Bombers players boarded a plane to return to Darwin, with many friendships made in such a very short period of time during their visit.

I would like to thank Russell JAMES from the Essendon Football Club, The Essendon Footballers, Xavier MALONEY, The Tiwi Land Council and all the staff at the Tiwi College for making this special event happen for the students, I am sure everyone that was there enjoyed watching the Bombers Fly Up, Up while they at Pika.
