Wadejmup Cup 2012

On the 9th of November, 110 Clontarf students along with staff and invited corporate partners converged on Rottnest Island for the sixth annual Wadjemup Cup football carnival.

Lower-school participants from 14 Western Australian Clontarf Academies, as far north as Roebourne and Karratha to down south as far as Esperance, came together to build relationships and compete in what is considered a highlight of the Clontarf calendar.

The weather was perfect for soaking up the relaxing Rottnest atmosphere; enjoying and exploring all that the island had to offer. Many took to the water before enjoying a sunset barbeque at North Thompson Bay Beach.

The group were treated to an intimate evening musical performance from Dave 'Tiger' Regan and Alan Pigram before being dazzled by magician Steve Silk, who had many of the boys spellbound with his illusions.

The following day the five combined teams hit the oval early, eager to make their mark on the competition. The 30 minute games saw big kicks, hard tackles, fast running and inspired goals.

Eight qualifying fixtures preluded the grand final showpiece that was ultimately played off between the Titans and the Allies, with the Allies winning their third Wadjemup Cup title, 8.4 (52) to 6.4 (40).

The games were played in great Clontarf spirit and were of a high standard making it a very enjoyable spectacle for the crowd. The weekend was well received by all involved and we look forwards to next year.
